I'm happily married (as unfashionable as that may be), am mom to a brand-new set of twins, have 3 cats, lots of books, and a new house. I am Director of Choirs at a local church and I teach private voice and piano. Hard to say which is more fun!

Baby update

Not a lot to say, except that they are almost exactly the same size (except for the wee bit of proud flesh). They are 1 pound 3 ounces. They can open their eyes, and if they were born today (God forbid) they would stand a chance of making it. Not a GREAT chance, though, so I think we ought to cook a while longer.

A note about due dates: The official due date is March 24 (which is 40 weeks), but for you baby poolers out there, I should tell you that the doctor said he would induce me at 38 weeks if they hadn't already decided to come on their own. From the reading, talking and research I've done online, twins often come as early as 35 weeks--and some manage to stay out of NICU. Let that be us, please. Not the 35 week part, the staying out of NICU part.

My doctor told me at my last appointment that he had delivered twins that morning, 38 weeks via C-section. Those durn kids weighed 8 and 9 pounds. That scared me silent. Can you imagine them at 40 weeks?!?

Rachel went with me to the ultrasound on Tuesday, Novemeber 22. I was glad she was able to go. The twins were very active. They were both head down (it would be great if they stayed that way, but the tech told me not to hold my breath), and they were facing each other. They were also kicking the stuffing out of each other--practice for real life, I guess. I keep thinking about the stories Mom tells about her and Uncle Bobby at age 21 trying to kill each other, with my grandmother hanging in the doorway clutching her chest and wheezing, "Oh, my heart, my heart!" I can just see THAT coming!
